James Bond’s Submarine Car Sold

James Bond’s “Lotus Esprit” car used in “The Spy Who Loved Me” in 1977 was sold on Monday in London at an auction sale. Its price reach 860.000 dollars (US). This vehicle was converted into a submarine in a cult scene of Ian Fleming’s hero action movie. Before the dive, Roger Moore asked the beautiful Bond girl Anya Amasova (Barbara Bach) who was sitting next to him, “Can you swim?”. This short sentence remained famous in the history of cinema.

After the end of the movie, the car remained 10 years in a pre-paid garage, in the Bahamas. When the payment for the rental stopped, the contents of the garage were auctioned and a couple had succeeded in 1989 to buy this car collection for the modest sum of $100.
