Sea Turtle gets new Artificial Flippers after Shark Attack
A Sea turtle that has lost its front flippers due to shark attack has been found in Japanese fisherman’s net in the mid 2008. The turtle was sent to the Suma Aqualife Park which took care of it. The Park has developed artificial flippers with advances Japanese technology. It’s the first time a turtle with artificial limbs is swimming without any problem. A few attempts have been previously made around the world to attach artificial limbs to turtles but they didn’t go well.
In 2004, a dolphin in an aquarium in Okinawa (Japan), became the first in the world to get an artificial tail fin because it lost its own tail due to illness.
