Sylvia Earle and Lesley Rochat – The Shark Warrior in South Africa

For those of you who don’t know Sylvia Earle, it’s time to cerrect this. Telling everything about Sylvia Earle here, would be too long as she had (and still has) such a long carreer filled with so many experiences related to the oceans, but I’ll try to summarize very shortly. .

Dr Sylvia Earle aka the  “Living Legend” is an American oceanographer, National Geographic Society Explorer-in-Residence,  explorer, author, and lecturer and in the field for over 50 years. Formerly chief scientist of NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), Sylvia is the founder of:  Deep Ocean Exploration and Research, Inc., Mission Blue and SEAlliance, and chair of the Advisory Councils of the Harte Research Institute and the Ocean in Google Earth.

Dr. Sylvia Earle is a fascinating woman and I wich you can see the following two clips. The first one done for the World Ocean Day (which was yesterday on June 8th) is telling about the oceans and why it’s so important to protect them, it includes also many unique history images. The second one is the speech Sylvia gave at TED, where she got a prize for her action.
