Located at 10 minutes from Larnaca in Cyprus, the Zenobia wreck is impressive. She’s 172 meters long and 25 meters wide. She’s laying on her left side at a depth of 42 meters. The ship’s right side is at 17 meter under the sea surface. Since she’s situated at approximately 1.5 km (0.5 marine miles) from the coast, the only way to reach her is by boat. A couple of clubs are offering diving trips. The Zenobia Diving Center, the largest diving club, has purchased the Zenobia after she sunk. It offers a daily trip departing at 9am from the port of Larnaca and returning around 13:00 on their M/V Queen Zenobia, which can carry up to 70 divers. The trip includes two dives and a Cyprian meal; the package costs 45 Euros. This ship is the only one that can anchor at the middle of the wreck, which is an advantage. You can choose to do one dive at the front of the Zenobia and the second one at her back side.
At the wreck’s back end, there are many trucks and machineries and at the very end, the boat’s propeller.
At the front end, there are many entrances to cabins, the command deck, some rescue boats, and some machineries.
Be very careful if you want to get inside the wreck. It’s very easy to get lost and when you don’t know your way around, it’s not easy to find the exit, even if it’s just next to you. The safest way to get inside, if you don’t know the wreck, is to dive with a local dive guide.
Good news for the divers, if you travel to Cyprus with the national company, you are allowed to have more weight than regular travellers.
Good to know, largest majority of Cyprians do speak English.
